Moinho das Poldras - São Cristóvão do Douro

The Poldras Mill (Moinho das Poldras) is located on the right bank of the Pinhão River, in the parish of São Cristóvão do Douro (Municipality of Sabrosa). This mill was operational until the 1970s, where Joaquim Amaral, one of the region's last living millers, worked for the final time. The mill is currently owned by Henrique Franco.
The mill's name derives from the presence of schist and granite stones set into the river that served as a crossing between the banks, known locally as poldras (stepping stones). In the central part of the river, these stones are no longer visible, as they were washed away by a major flood in the early 20th century.
The mill can be reached via a dirt road leading from the village. The spot is popular for picnics and camping.
